Week One Drawings

I made these drawings during the first week of class. For the top left portraits, I used the charcoal to darken some areas of the drawings as well as to create a base for the head shapes, making those lines very visible in the drawing. I wish I could have used a lighter hand or the graphite pencil to create the circles/squares. Also, I received my new glasses in the mail this week so I was inspired to draw them (top right). Using the Micron 005 pen, I used the searching line method and darkened the edges of the glasses to give the drawing more dimension. Using the gesture line method, I made a quick outline of my right hand with charcoal (Bottom left). I decided to smudge out some of the lines I created to give the illusion of a three dimensional figure. I hope to recreate this drawing when we learn more about value. Lastly, I created a self portrait (Bottom right) using different lines to create the texture in my hair.
