The chess pieces and their proportions gave me a hard time but I tried my best to get it right

Liz, work on a smoother rendering technique, for example the background (black foam core) is very linear and scratchy rather than a solid dark, shoot for more of a gradient . The back wall of the still life needs to be darker, at times it is as light as the table top. Maybe start each value drawing with a value scale then identify where the lightest lights are, where the middle greys are etc, and look at the relationship of object to ground, is it lighter or darker.
